I received a call today from one someone thinking about selling his home. He was concerned because all he’s heard is the media hype about how the market has declined 30% since the buyer credit went away. All I can say is Hogwash.
We all know the media is infamous for spewing negativity. I don’t even watch the news anymore since it’s such a downer.
Take the real estate market.
Every home I have listed and have under contract sold in less than 32 days with 42% of my listings selling within the first week. The listing I took last week received 4 competing offers, and the last 3 listings that sold in the last 2 weeks were sold with the buyer removing the appraisal contingency. This does not look like a declining market to me. All of these listings were traditional resales and further proof that the buying public loves a “regular” sale.
Why isn’t the media sharing this good news? Because good news is apparently boring.
