Above and Beyond…a day in the life of a Chandler REALTOR

There are a lot of things Real Estate Agents do that are not on the job description and often go unrecognized.

I’ve gone “above and beyond” for my clients for years, but one of my last sales added a couple new credentials to my repertoire.

real estate agent matchmakerMy seller traveled frequently so when I listed his home, I knew his frisky little dog was a sweetie but was going to be an issue. This little fella (the dog, not the seller) loved to run out the front door whenever anyone came to visit and Mr. Seller did not want to board him.

When I listed the home, temps were average 112 degrees and I pictured Mr. Frisky escaping and dying of heat exhaustion in a matter of hours. This was troubling to me, so I began to brainstorm and almost instantly came up with a possible solution.

I called my best friend and dog lover and asked if she would like to help out by letting Mr. Frisky live with her during the term of the listing. She met with Mr. Seller & Mr. Frisky and happily took him (the dog – not the seller) home with her.

In the back of my mind, I knew my friend would fall in love with Mr. Frisky and I also hoped Mr. Seller, who travelled so much, would realize how much better off his furry friend would be living in a home with constant companionship.

I was right. When the listing sold, the seller decided he just couldn’t take Mr. Frisky with him so Mr. Frisky’s temporary home became permanent and my best friend was thrilled. Oh happy day I am now a successful pet matchmaker!

Mr. Seller also let me know he had to sell some of his furniture. Yep…my team found a buyer for his furniture. So now we can add furniture matchmaker to our credentials as well.

It’s not all hearts and roses however and I have failed at one matchmaking opportunity.

I recently had a lady seller who was going through a divorce. Ms. Seller asked me if I could also find a buyer for her soon-to-be ex-husband….so he’d “get off her back” (her words, not mine).

Hmmm…finding a new owner for a distressed property? Yep, I can do that. Finding a new “owner” for a distressed husband….uhh…maybe not.
